White Capped Pionus for sale, the White crowned Pionus, also known as the White-capped Pionus or White-capped Parrot, is a popular pet and relatively common in captivity. They are a delight to own! Once they are established, they make a very docile parrot that is calm and undemanding. They are very sweet and affectionate.

These intelligent and curious little birds do have a somewhat stronger personality than most other Pionus species, but with good attention they can make fabulous family pets! They are quick to learn and can be taught a variety of tricks. Although they are rather quiet and shy, they do have some talking ability.

They are generally green with a paler and more yellowish green on the underside. True to their name, they have a white cap on their forehead as well as a white patch under their chin and throat. The rest of the head is blue, and the breast has olive-brown feathers edged with darker purplish blues, gradually turning green across the abdomen.

They sport a variety of colors on the tops of the wings from golden browns, violet-blues, blues, to greens and the underwing is a bluish green moving to a dull green. The beak is a horn color, the eye is dark brown to orangish circled by a light pinkish-white eye ring, and they have pink legs.
Juveniles are paler in color, have much less white on the cap, and very little or no blue on the head.

Care and feeding White Capped Pionus

A Pionus diet consisting of a good parrot mix which includes formulated foods, a variety of seeds, and dried fruits is generally regarded as a suitable base to provide nutrition and variety. Along with this, provide a daily supplement of fresh fruits and vegetables.
They are active by nature and can become overweight if confined.

Like the Amazon Parrots they require a low fat diet. Good Pionus bird care starts with providing a good diet. A roomy cage is required unless the bird is to be let out for extended periods. Many birds can spend a good deal of their time on a play pen or parrot perch. They do enjoy showering.
They eat a variety of seeds, fruits, berries, and green stuffs. Including a formulated diet would also be beneficial.

Bird Food:

Foods available for Pionus parrots include formulated diets, either pelleted or extruded, seed only diets, and parrot mixes which offer a mixture of both. There are pros and cons to feeding only a formulated diet as well as feeding only a seed diet.

Social Behaviors

Pionus parrots are generally peaceful and not particularly loud. A nice Pionus trait is that they are usually a calm bird though some can be a bit more nervous. Usually this is only when first introduced to a new environment and passes as they become more confident. There is some thought that the females are gentler than the males.

They are incredibly sociable birds and are frequently regarded as the best parrot to keep as a pet, especially when children are present. They have stable personalities and are devoted. Buy white capped pionus Online

The fact that Pionus parrots rarely bite is a valued feature. They can also get along with other pets if they become familiar to each other and accept each other. However, keep a close eye on all groups of animals and children to avoid any unexpected accidents. Buy white capped pionus

Temperament and Personality

Despite their reserved personalities, they are smart and inquisitive birds. They make a great friend if the hand is lifted. Adult birds, especially males, develop attachments to their handlers and may become violent if anyone, even a family member, approaches the handler. white cap pionus for sale near Missouri

Speech and Vocalizations

Like other pionus parrots, the white-capped parrots have a reputation for being slightly quieter than other hookbill parrots and make a great apartment bird. However, a houseful of screaming children, barking dogs, and blaring televisions can easily teach the sedate pionus to be noisy.  white cap pionus for sale near Illinois

We recently purchased a female white Head Pionus from jungle birds. She came very tame and well behaved. She also came trained for o step up and we’ll and harness trained. We are already making big strides with her and you can tell jungle birds puts tons of time and efforts into his birds. Top notch breeder and person.

There are not enough words of appreciation that I can use to describe Jungle Birds Farms. From day one, he was so friendly and took the time to answer all of my questions, and he never made me feel rushed. His customer service is beyond measure.
As for his birds……oh my goodness. When I originally went on his website and saw the price of his babies I kind of flinched in all honesty. But I read his reviews and heard how happy his customers were with their birds and I also saw that all of his babies are vet checked and tested for avian diseases, so I felt more at ease spending the money. And being that he was so kind and offered great customer service, I also felt better spending the money.
I live in sunny Southern California so I had to have my baby shipped to me from Stockton Springs, Maine. The crate that Jungle birds farms ships his babies in are AWESOME! You can tell that he definitely cares about his babies comfort and safety when they are being shipped. They are beautiful and very well made. He sends you the starter kit if you opt for that (I highly suggest you get it) and it’s packed very nicely in the crate as well. I couldn’t wait to get home to open the crate to meet my baby blue and gold macaw for the first time.
When I got home, we eagerly opened up the crate and out pops this little bundle of absolute cuteness!!! We fell in love IMMEDIATELY! Our Tiki is soooooo sweet, so full of energy, so healthy, so beautiful, sooooo tame and obviously LOVES people. You can tell this baby was well cared for and loved and worked with a ton before he came home to us. Jungle Birds Farms and his employees and/or family have put so much loving care and time into these babies.
Obviously, I would 100% recommend purchasing a bird from Jungle Birds Farms. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Every part of the transaction from beginning to end was easy, seamless and just all around awesome! Yes, his prices are higher but let me reiterate…….HIS BIRDS ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY AND YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! If I win the lottery, I’m buying many more birds from Jungle Birds Farms. Lol. Clearly he is very proud of what he produces and he is VERY competent at what he does. He produces extraordinary birds. Thank you Jungle Birds Farms. We are so happy with our new baby. Now we are just waiting for our Indian Ringneck from Jungle Birds Farms to be weaned and we will add another baby to our flock. ❤️🦜
